This past week we have been watching a movie called ‘Schindler’s List’. Here is my reflection about the movie.
From my observation I think a positive attribute will be at the end, when Oskar saved the Jews from Auschwitz. At first the commanders were only letting the adults on the train and taking the children away. When Oskar saw this happening he was quick to run over and give a reasoning to him actually needed the young children. Oskar was rather thoughtful when he reconsidered saving the Jewish lady’s parents. Oskar had rage about how people were taking his company as a saviour camp, but he later had a change of heart and we see the parents entering his company. Personally I think that since this scene Oskar’s heart had been changed. Yes, he was doing stuff beforehand but he was on and off and would always bounce back. But from this scene on wards Oskar was never ending, saving Jews. Itzhak Stern (Oskar’s assistant) to me was a helpful person in the movie. In the beginning Itzhak had been reassuring the Jews to choose Oskar’s company. Another scene was when Itzhak was filling in Oskar about everything that was going on inside the detention camp. When you think about it, Itzhak was quite an assistant. He sacrificed his life doing his job. Assistants in today’s society just have to get the paperwork done, so I feel we must be grateful that we never have to go to the extent Itzhak had to. The movie in the end left me with 2 questions, What punishments were placed to those who were apart of the Nazi Clang ? Were there any survivors founded in basements and underneath floors ?
